Hospitality Industry Fellowships

The Objective

The Hospitality Industry Fellowship program is a tool to recruit the best talent/minds to get graduate education in hospitality management and play a vital role in addressing the changes and challenges in the hospitality industry.

The fellowships are to be offered annually to a select number of highly qualified students that intend to pursue a master’s degree in hospitality management. Fellowship recipients will bring exemplary levels of scholarship and innovation to the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Muma College of Business, University of South Florida.

Program Description

Each year, several new fellowships will be available for awards. Each award will consist of an Out of State Tuition Fee Waiver*(currently about $15,000 for two years), a $3,310 Health Insurance Coverage Subsidy*, and about $17,000 annual stipend (in exchange for 20 hours a week at a partner hotel or restaurant). The total value of the fellowship is about $35,000 for two years. The student will be responsible to pay the in-state tuition (about $15,000 over two years).

Each award will be for one year and renewable for an additional year. Upon graduation, each award holder will also have a possibility to join the Management Training Program for the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management’s industry partners.

The financial support package will consist of an annual student stipend, health insurance, and tuition and fee support. A breakdown of the various elements is as follows:

To be eligible for consideration for a fellowship, prospective students must meet the previously outlined criteria, have applied or been accepted to the Master of Science – Hospitality Management Program, and be nominated by the School Dean and Graduate Program Coordinator.
